Desert Camp Lockdown
Our pupils’ families are among India’s poorest and most marginalised people. Our desert camp children belong to large families, often with elderly relatives sharing their tent camp home. Many tents share small areas of public land on the edge of Pushkar. Temperatures in Rajasthan are now already above 40 degrees C and, with schools closed, children mingle and play together in and out of the open tents, so social distancing is simply not possible for them.
